The Chancellor, Sir (Dr.) Samuel Esson Jonah has entreated staff UCC to embrace the new corporate strategic plan to propel the University to the desired heights.
Launching the 2012 UCC Corporate Strategic Document at the School of Medical Sciences Auditorium, North Campus, Dr. Jonah called on staff to work towards achieving the set targets outlined in the document. He expressed the hope that the strategic goals/thrusts contained in the document would be totally embraced by all innovative, talented, motivated, hardworking and forward-thinking members of staff and stakeholders who have the interest of UCC at heart to move it forward.
The Chancellor also observed that despite the challenges associated with securing sustainable funds to support scholarship, the University remained committed to achieving the goals in the document. He congratulated the Faculties/ Schools/Departments/Sections/Units/Institutes/Centres whose input had enriched the document.
Giving a background of the document, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. S. B. Kendie explained that the first strategic plan was launched in 2003 covering a five year-period. He indicated that in 2008, a committee comprising representatives from all Faculties/Schools/Departments/Sections/Units/Institutes/Centres was formed to review the earlier plan to chart a course for the University.
The 2012 Corporate Strategic Document is for expected to end in 2017 after which it would be reviewed.
