The socio-economic conditions of the country require that students pursue programmes that will meet their aspirations and future academic and professional development. The current programme does not provide sufficient course content for the student to be competitive enough. In order to make the products of the Department compete favourably with their counter-parts from sister universities, it has become imperative to review the Environmental Science programme offered by the Department.
To equip students with knowledge and skills in environmental science to solve environmental problems.
To strengthen human capacity to address environmental issues at the local, national and international levels.
To enhance understanding of environmental issues based on problem-focused research.
To provide students with information about the environment that they can harness to identify and assess environmental problems.
To train students to understand environmental issues and acquire the relevant skills to engage themselves in problem-focused environmental research.
To provide students with knowledge, skills and tools to enable them provide solutions to the myriad of societal environmental problems.
