Dr Peter Kwapong Wins British Council Award
A Senior Lecturer at the Department of Entomology and Wildlife, School of Biological Sciences, University of Cape Coast, Dr. Peter Kofi Kwapong has been honoured by the British Council as the Most Effective Ambassador 2012.
At British Council Alumni Reception held recently in Accra, Dr. Kwapong was honoured for being the most innovative alumnus of all the British trained scholars. Dr. Kwapong had as his prize a plaque and a Dell Inspiron Notebook computer.
Speaking to the “Campus Update”, Dr. Kwapong explained that he attended the University of Reading in the United Kingdom and qualified as an entomologist with special interest in Bees and pollination. According to the information, UK institutions were asked to submit one Ghanaian alumnus from their institution who has excelled in his field both at home and the world at large as well as continue to have collaborations with his/her alma mater.
Three people qualified for this competition of which Dr. Kwapong emerged the overall winner. He said the award; the first of its kind held for British trained alumni was highly competitive. Britain has over 200 universities but at the ceremony, 43 representatives of British Universities as well as the Director of British Council Ghana, Mr. Moses Anibaba, British High commissioner and their staff attended the ceremony at Headlines Hospitality, Labone, Accra.
