Prof. Gladys Amponsah Honoured by Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons
The Vice-Dean of the School of Medical Sciences, Prof. Gladys Amponsah has been honoured by the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (GCPS) for her immense contributions to the Faculty of Anaesthesia and Postgraduate Medical Education in Ghana.
The honours was bestowed on Prof. Amponsah at the Meritorious Awards Night as part of the 10th Anniversary of the GCPS in Accra.
Prof. Amponsah continues to play an instrumental role and served in various capacities as Dean of Anaesthesia, Chief Examiner, Internal Assessor and senior faculty at the GCPS. She is also an external examiner of the West Africa College of Physicians and Surgeons.
In an exclusive interview, Prof. Amponsah advised women in academia to prove their worth so that they could excel in any leadership position they find themselves stressing that “All my life, I have strived to do things to the best of my abilities and always aimed at excellence.” She also urged the ladies not to feel inferior to their male counterparts but rather commit themselves to their aspirations in life.
Prof. Amponsah acknowledged that “It is the Lord who has brought me this far; he has been my source of strength and the successes I have achieved in life.” He also expressed appreciation to her family especially, her late father, Mr. George Oteng and her husband, Mr. Peter Amponsah for their continuous support and encouragement.
