Presentation of the award to the Pro Vice-Chancellor

The  School of Medical Sciences (UCCSMS) has presented the trophy the School won at the Eighth Medical Inter Schools’ Public Speaking Competition held to the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor G. K. T. Oduro.

Background

The competition was on the theme “Child Sexual Abuse in Ghana: The Extent of the Problem, Consequence and Proposed Solutions”.

UCCSMS defeated three other Medical Schools from the University of Ghana, Legon, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and the University for Development Studies to win the trophy.

The Women’s Commission, NUGS, UCC Chapter has organised the Women Economic Empowerment Summit’ 18 under the theme “Women Economic Empowerment: Driving Force for Societal Change”

The Women’s Commissioner, NUGS - UCC Chapter, Ms. Faustina Maama, explained that the summit was aimed at sensitising young women on the need to identify the current economic trend in order to determine the right opportunities available. She noted that the programme was held to help enlighten and empower the female youth on the driving forces of the country’s economy. 

Presentation of award to a hardworking student

The School of Allied Health Sciences under the College of Health and Allied Sciences has held its first Dean’s Awards Ceremony to honour brilliant students.

The Chairman of the programme, Dean, School of Allied Health Sciences, Prof. Moses Jojo Eghan, said the ceremony was organised to honour deserving students from the various departments in the School.

Twenty-three (23) cash prices were presented as departmental awards and ten (10) plaques with cash prizes were also presented as to the awardees.

The Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation in collaboration with the International Society of Sports and Exercise Psychology has launched the maiden Ghana Society of Sports and Exercise Psychology (GHASSEP).

The ceremony was under the theme “Embracing Sport and Exercise Psychology Application for Optimal Performance and General Well-being in Ghana”.

Barclays Bank in collaboration with the Students’ Representative Council has held a seminar on Entrepreneurship for students of the Univeristy.

The seminar dubbed “ReadytoWork” formed part of Barclays Bank’s corporate social responsibility to the University.

Indian High Commissioner Calls on Vice-Chancellor

The High Commissioner of India to Ghana, His Excellency, Shri Birender Singh Yadav, has called on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah.

 The visit was a follow up of UCC’s collaboration with Gujarat Forensic Sciences University (GFSU), India.

Tutors of Nursing and Midwifery Training College with facilitators of the workshop

The Institutional Affiliation Office (IAO) has begun series of workshops to build the capacities of tutors in Nursing and Midwifery Training Colleges (NMTC) across the country offering Diploma in Midwifery for Post Nurse Assistant Clinicals and Nurse Assistant Preventive (NAC/NAP) students. 

The workshops which are being held in the various campuses of the Colleges are aimed at building the capacities of tutors in Assessment to improve their instructions in the classroom and helping students to learn.

The delegation from University of KwaZulu-Natal with the Vice-Chancellor and other officials of UCC

A three-member delegation from the University of Kwazulu-Natal, (UKZN), South Africa, has paid courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah as part of their working visit to the University.

The delegation comprised Prof. Harold Ngalawa (Dean of Research), Dr. Evelyn Derera (Academic Leader) and Dr. Phocenah Nyatanga of the School of Accounting Economics and Finance.
