Prof. Douglas D. Agyei

PROFILE: 

Prof. Douglas D. Agyei is an Associate Professor of Mathematics Education. He holds a Bachelor of Education in Mathematics from University of Cape Coast, Ghana, Master of Science (Applied Mathematics) form University of Kaiserslautern. Germany and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in the area of Curriculum and Instructional design in Mathematics Education at the University of Twente, The Netherlands. He teaches and supervises research for graduate students in the department of Mathematics and ICT Education. He has presented papers locally and internationally including countries such as South Africa, Japan, Singapore, Bulgaria, Belgium, Malawi, USA, Zimbabwe and the Netherlands. He has been involved in a number of international collaborations and has coordinated various research projects and training activities within and outside Ghana. Prof. Agyei is a member of various professional bodies including; Research Training and Development, United Kingdom, Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education (SITE) African Regional Affiliate (USA), International Federation of Information Processing (IFIP) (Working Group 3.3), Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education (AACE). Currently, Prof. Agyei is the Director of the Centre for Teaching Support, UCC.

AREA OF INSTRUCTION/RESEARCH AREA(S): 

Prof. Agyei’s research interest include instructional/educational technology, technological pedagogical content knowledge, curriculum design and design-based research in mathematics education and his research has resulted in several publications in a number of refereed journals and conference proceedings, books, book chapters and technical reports.
