The Directorate of Research, Innovation and Consultancy (DRIC) invites applications from suitably qualified persons with expertise in research administration for the following positions: 
1.    Research Fellow (Grants and Contract Management Administrator)
2.    Research Fellow (Industry, Innovation, Outreach and Extension Services Administrator)
The position of Research Fellow would be appointed and promoted based on the Research Fellows line of progression. 

Position: Research Fellow – Grants and Contract Management Administrator
Job Description – Key Duties and Responsibilities
1.    Identifies and maintains research grant sources, and disseminates research funding opportunities 
2.    Coordinates the setting up of teams for proposal development and provides pre-award support
3.    Prepares all contracts and portfolios for research, grants and consultancies
4.    Keeps complete and accurate database of contracts for sub-awards, research, grants and consultancies
5.    Seeks and manages UCC and DRIC’s registration with international institutes that have research grants and other grant platforms 
6.    Reviews proposals for completeness and compliance with the national and institutional regulations/policies/guidelines/procedures as well as administrative, financial and programmatic (grant project performance) reporting requirements of the award 
7.    Liaises with principal investigators, subcontractors, sponsored project offices and funding agencies 
Qualifications and Experience
1.    Minimum of PhD/ MPhil (Masters with thesis) in a relevant discipline
2.    Additional qualification in Project Management, International Development, or Research Administration will be an advantage
3.    Extensive experience in proposal development for research grants and consultancy services, including the identification, preparation and implementation of research grant 
4.    Extensive experience in sourcing for grants and securing external grants and project funding
5.    Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply sponsor, national and institutional policies, regulations, guidelines, practices and procedures on research grants
6.    Ability to manage high volume and complex transactions
7.    Excellent research and analytical skills
8.    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
9.    Good planning, organisational and administrative skills
10.    Good IT skills and understanding of centralised database management system

Position: Research Fellow – Industry, Innovation, Outreach and Extension Services Administrator
Job Description – Key Duties and Responsibilities
1.    Links industry with researchers and set up funding mechanism 
2.    Identifies linkages of philanthropic individuals and agencies with UCC 
3.    Maintain links with industry players and keep complete and accurate database on same
4.    Seeks patent registration for works of innovation 
5.    Seeks linkages with industry to commercialise innovative research findings 
6.    Liaises with Faculties/Schools to keep record of staff extension services, including identifying relevant areas of support in the community 
7.    Mobilises support for identified areas of need in the community through research or any other means 
8.    Prepares policy briefs for engagement with national policy makers 
9.    Handles business negotiations and teaming agreements with collaborators 
10.    Identifies, coordinates and compiles research business development and strategic research plans of faculty, staff and students
Qualifications and Experience
1.    Minimum of PhD/ MPhil (Masters with thesis) in a relevant discipline
2.    Additional qualification in Marketing, or Business Administration will be an advantage
3.    Effective networking skills and connection with businesses and industry 
4.    Demonstrated understanding of intellectual property rights (patents, copyright and related rights) 
5.    Familiarity with the process of turning fresh ideas into great products and services
6.    Effective client liaison and ability to build relationships 
7.    Good interdisciplinary working skills 
8.    Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
9.    Good planning, organisational and administrative skills
10.    Good IT skills and understanding of centralised database management system
