The School of Educational Development and Outreach (SEDO) in its quest to engage educational practitioners and researchers on quality education has held its 1st International Conference under the theme, “Promoting Innovative Educational Practices for Sustainable Development”.
The Department of Religion and Human Values has held the maiden “Winter-New Year School” under the theme, ‘Religion and Human Security in Africa”.
The Winter-New Year School which was hosted by the Department of Religion and Human Values was held in collaboration with the University of Groningen (UG), Netherlands to deliberate and discuss on issues relating to Religion and Human Security in Africa.
The UCC Sports Team has presented trophies won at the 8th Mini GUSA Games which was hosted by UCC to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah.
The University of Cape Coast has hosted and won the Eighth Mini Ghana University Sports Association Games.
The Eighth Mini Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Games have officially commenced at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah, who officially opened the Games, welcomed contingents from the competing universities to the University of Coast. Prof. Ampiah said the unique and enormous role sports participation played in the life of every individual could not be underestimated. He prayed that the athletes would exhibit best talents in the sporting disciplines they would be competing in.
Prof. Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh has officially taken over from Prof. George K. T. Oduro, as Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University.
Prof. Edu-Buandoh becomes the first female Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University.
Speaking at the hand-over ceremony, the immediate past Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oduro thanked the Vice-Chancellor for creating an enabling environment for him to carry out his duties. He expressed gratitude to the University Community for the support during his term of office. “No individual can succeed without the help of others”.
The University has matriculated students of the College of Distance Education who were admitted to pursue various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through distance for the 2018/2019 academic year.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has expressed interest to collaborate with the University of Cape Coast’s Department of Forensic Sciences (DFS) to train its personnel.
As part of the collaboration, the Department of Forensic Sciences will mentor the CID Detective Training Academy (DTA) to run programmes at the certificate to the postgraduate levels.
The Department of Agricultural Engineering under the School of Agriculture has held a training programme on processing Orange Fleshed Sweet Potato (OFSP) with gari.
The Orange Fleshed Sweet Potato known locally as “Apomudzin Santom" was discovered by a team of researchers from the Department of Agricultural Engineering.
