Senior management members drawn from sixteen colleges of education affiliated to the University of Cape Coast have received training on assessment and management at a workshop organized by the Institute of Education, UCC.
The two-day workshop offered the participants the platform to share a common vision and understanding of the best practices of running their respective colleges.
The Director of the Institute of Education, Prof. Christine Adu-Yeboah said the workshop was deemed necessary because it formed part of the University’s mentoring role for the colleges of education in the country. She indicated it is the expectation of the University’s management that all affiliated colleges mirror its standard of quality practices.
“We are assisting the colleges to do things the way we do it here at the University of Cape Coast in terms of teaching, management, assessment, and everything. The University of Cape Coast wants to bring the colleges up to that level” she intimated.
Prof. Adu-Yeboah further added that the workshop had become needful as a means to bridge the gap of proper methods of assessing college students and teachers in all the affiliate colleges.
Dean of the Office of Students’ Affairs of UCC, Prof. Eugene Marfo Dartey, on his part, urged the participants, especially the college principals to make conscious efforts to put in place measures that will embrace the changes that the upgrade in the colleges will come with.
