A four-member delegation from the Grand Valley State University, United States of America has paid a courtesy call on the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. George K. T. Oduro in his office. The delegation, which was led by Anne L. Hiskes, includes Mark Schaub, Rachel Siglow and Cindy Hiskes.   Speaking on behalf of the team, Anne Hiskes said it was interesting for them to be visiting Ghana and indicated that they were here to learn about the philosophy of higher education and new programmes of the university.  

A Public Lecture has been held at the University of Cape Coast to usher in the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which falls on Wednesday, January 27.

The Nazi regime and their collaborators killed over six million Jews during the Holocaust in the 1930s.

The University of Cape Coast Primary School (UPS) has won the 2015 National Junior Graphic Fan Club Spelling Competition which was organised by the Graphic Communications Group Limited in Accra. Represented by Joshuana Buerkor Nartey, Lord Awingur and Gilbert Kofi Eduah, the UPS defeated six other basic schools in the country to be crowned winners.  With 63 points, UPS beat Falsyd Foundation School in the finals held in Accra.

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) and Dominion University College (DUC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at a short ceremony on campus. The MoU serves as a reference document that makes UCC a mentor institution to DUC. Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. D. D. Kuupole commended DUC for entering into affiliation with UCC. He noted that affiliation is about partnership and therefore the two institutions should work towards achieving results.

The UCC Branch of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), has congratulated, Prof. George K. T. Oduro on his appointment as the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University. A statement signed by the Secretary of the association, Dr. David Teye Doku expressed confidence that Prof. Oduro will bring his expertise and rich experience to bear in the delivery of quality services to members of the association and the entire University.

Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama has appointed a five member Presidential Committee to determine the salaries of Article 71 office holders. The committee will determine the salaries of the President’s Ministers and political appointees, Members of Parliament (MPs), members of the Council of State, among others. The new committee which was inaugurated by the President will be chaired by Professor Dora Francisca Edu- Buandoh.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. D. D. Kuupole has called on the Chief Executive of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA), Ms. Priscilla Arhin in her office.

The visit was to discuss issues of mutual benefit to the CCMA and the University.

Welcoming the Vice-Chancellor, Ms. Arhin said she was highly honoured for the visit. She was confident that the assembly and university will continue to collaborate in matters concerning the two institutions.

Three officials from the Bank of Ghana have paid a working visit to the University to examine progress of work at the Language Centre. The three officials from the Bank of Ghana namely, Mr. Benjamin Addo, Mr. Kofi Amponsah Kwatiah and Mr. Papa Daniels in the company of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. D. D. Kuupole were taken round the facility by the architect of the project, Mr. George Arko Forson. Briefing the team on the progress of work, Mr. Forson said the project was 80% complete. It is expected that the project will be handed over in March, 2016.
