Members of the Students' Parliamentary Council of University of Cape Coast (UCC) have used mock parliamentary proceedings to highlight the importance of menstrual care and raise awareness of issues faced by girls and women during menstruation.

According to them, the increase in the price of sanitary pads was making it unaffordable for women and girls in low-income homes and deprived communities in the country to access clean and affordable menstrual products. 

The Faculty of Science and Technology Education has held a reception in honour of two students  who participated in the 2023 World University Games popularly known as Federation Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU) Games. 

 Ms. Rose Amoanima Yeboah secured the first gold medal for Ghana with a groundbreaking record of 1.94 m in High Jump at the just ended World University Games  held in Chengdu, China.

A level 300 student of University of Cape Coast (UCC), Rose Amoaniwaa Yeboah, has confirmed her place among the pantheon of world female high jumpers as she set a new national record by producing a leap of 1.94 meters to grab Ghana’s first gold medal at the FISU World University Games 2023 in Chengdu, China.

By this feat, Rose Yeboah breaks the previous national record of 1.92m set by Abigail Kwarteng at the War Eagle Invitational in Auburn, Alabama, in 2022.

VoTEC Students Showcase their Creativity with Fashion Show

Final year students of the Vocational and Technical Education (VoTEC), University of Cape Coast impressed fashion lovers on campus with their latest collections and designs.

The sold-out event saw many student-models hit the runway with their eye-catching catwalk, latest style of clothing and hair decoration, amidst smiles and applause from fashion spectators.

The Confucius Institute, University of Cape Coast (CIUCC) has held an industrial lecture for its students to equip them with the needed knowledge to stay relevant on the job market.

The Director of the  National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE) of the Republic of Liberia, Dr. Edward Lama Wonkeryor, has held a meeting with the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong in an effort to seek academic partnership to transform the higher education system in Liberia.

During the meeting, Dr. Wonkeryor said there were sixty-one universities and colleges in Liberia, but pointed out that the higher institution system was bereft of qualified teaching staff. 

Level 300 students of the Department of Forensic Sciences of University of Cape Coast have demonstrated their competences  in giving expert witness testimony in two cases from a mock crime scene.

The event took place in a moot court room at the Sam Jonah Law Library on the 28th of July, 2023. 

A professor of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Prof. Ismael Mensah

A professor of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Prof. Ishmael Mensah, has appealed to stakeholders and operators in the tourism value chain to involve local communities in coastal tourism development.

He observed that local communities were the linchpin of the protection of coastal resources and sustainability of the tourism industry and, therefore, urged tourism practitioners to consider the aspirations of the locals at various stages of tourism development.

 School of Agriculture  Dean's Award
A total of 110 students benefited from this year’s School of Agriculture Dean’s Awards ceremony.
 
In all,  37 from level 200;  28 from Level 300 and 19 from Level 400  were celebrated for obtaining a CGPA of 3.6 and above during the 2021/22 Academic year.
