The University of Cape Coast has held a Send-off and Long Service Awards Ceremony for ninety-three (93) retirees of the University for their meritorious service.
A breakdown of the number of retirees (teaching and non-teaching Staff) honoured includes twenty-three (23) Senior Members, thirty-five (35) Senior Staff and thirty-five (35) Junior Staff.
A Professor of Entomology with the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Prof. Peter K. Kwapong, has called for aggressive steps to be taken to protect the habitat of bees.
He prevailed upon African governments, especially, to clamp down on illegal loggers who were felling many of the forest trees which bees used as their habitat.
A professor of Tourism, Prof. Kwaku Adutwum Annim Boakye, who is currently the Dean of the Office of International Relations of University of Cape Coast, says tourism is not a prerequisite for national development.
According to him, "the mere presence of tourists does not guarantee developmental outcomes such as reduction of poverty, hunger and economic growth".
