UCC Signs MoU with University of Antwerp

04 Nov, 2016 By louis Mensah

The University of Cape Coast (UCC), through the facilitation of the Centre for International Education (CIE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute for Development Policy and Management (IOB) of the University of Antwerp (UA) in Belgium.

Aside pursuing academic partnership programmes between the two institutions, the MoU also makes it possible for UCC post-graduate students to apply to be considered for post-graduate studies under the Mastermind Scholarships being funded by the Flemish Universities and Colleges Board (VLUHR) in Belgium.

The MoU became effective last year with the admission of Mr. Dennis K. A. Penu, a student and staff at the Institute for Development Studies of the University of Cape Coast, into a Master’s programme at the University of Antwerp. Mr. Penu has just graduated from UA with an advanced Master’s degree in Governance and Development (magna cum laude).

During his studies at UA’s Institute for Development Policy and Management, he was elected and successfully served as Chair of the Students Committee; leading students admitted from over 30 countries around the world. This year, another UCC student, Mr. Franklin Nana Duah, has begun his studies on the same scholarship at the University of Antwerp.

As facilitators of this MoU’s implementation, the Centre for International Education will be liaising with all relevant Institutes and Departments within UCC to promote and streamline the implementation of this MoU so that many more qualified students from UCC could benefit from this opportunity and also to ensure that the reputation of UCC is enhanced through such partnership.
