Chinese Director of Confucius Institute Pays Courtesy Call to the Vice-Chancellor

Prof. Ou Yamei, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute of the University of Cape Coast paid a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor. 

The Vice-Chancellor assured Prof. Ou Yamei that the University Management would support the Confucius institute in every way. 

Responding, Prof. Yamei promised to also work with the University to achieve for mutual benefit. 

Present were Registrar of the college of humanities Mr. Ebenezer Agrey, Prof. Ishmael Mensah, the Ghana Director of the Confucius Institute, Registrar of the University of Cape Coast · Mr. Jeff Teye Emmanuel Onyame, Prof. Ou Yamei, Chinese Coordinator of the Confucius Institute of UCC, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast Prof. Francisca Dora Edu-Buandoh and the Provost of College of Humanities and Legal Studies Prof. Francis Eric Amuquandoh.

ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF HEAD, SCHOLARLY COMMUNICATION UNIT

The University of Cape Coast invites applications from suitably qualified and competent professionals for the position of Head, Scholarly Communication Unit (Scholarly Communication Librarian).

Qualified applicant will be directly responsible to the University Librarian, Sam Jonah Library but ultimately to the Vice Chancellor.

Qualification/Experience

Candidates seeking appointment to this position:

  • Must possess PhD in the following subject areas: Scholarly Communication, Scientific Publishing, Publishing, Information Technology or related field.
  • Minimum of two years working experience in an Academic, Research or related institution.
  • Knowledge of the Scholarly Communication Landscape, Research data management, Publishing, Copyright, Licensing, Open Access etc.

Job Description

·        Develop, analyse and implement policies relating to resources and services for the University Scholarly Communications Unit.

·        Coordinate the management of the University Journals.

·        Digital Archiving of the University Journals and other related Research outputs.

·        Develop and manage Online Journal Management Systems for the University.

·        Provide technical support such as requisition of ISBN, ISSN, DOI, Copyright. Licensing, Intellectual Property and Open Access Publishing.

·        Promote and market UCC Journals and related research outputs.

·        Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in Scholarly Communications including Editors of UCC Journals, Researchers, Librarians, Publishers and Policy makers etc.

·        Provide consultation expertise and training for UCC staff on relevant topics related to scholarly publishing.

·        Develop equitable access and sustainable publishing models for the University.

Suitably qualified applicants should apply to the Registrar through the Directorate of Human Resource, University of Cape Coast.

The Centre for Teaching Support successfully organized a two (2) day training workshop for the Academic Staff of Forensic Sciences at the Ridge Royal Hotel, Cape Coast.

The broad objective of the training was to enlighten the Academic staff on Contemporary Methods of Lesson delivery, Assessment and Preparation of Course Outline. Prof. George K. T Oduro, Dr. Godwin Aboagye and Dr. Kofi Acheaw Owusu served as facilitators.
