Administration of Health Promotion Programmes

Issues to be examined include needs assessment, health promotion facilities management, funding of health promotion, resource management, planning, budgeting, and accountability. The course will also equip students with in-depth knowledge in the administration of health promotion programmes. The course will adopt both analytical and practical methods to cover the principles of administration and management of health programmes with emphasis on a systems approach for assessing and evaluating operations of governmental and non-governmental organisations’ programmes taking into cognizance cultural and political influences. Issues of inequality and distributive principles of health resources and their implications for quality health care, sustainability of health programmes and ethics of social justice will also be explored. The writing of grant proposal will also be covered in this course.

Community and Environmental Health

This course examines the health status of various communities. It also focuses on factors that affect the health of such communities. Various systems of health care and their strengths and weaknesses will be examined. The relationship between community and environment is examined to describe both positive and negative interactive effects of people and their environment. Specific environmental components include air, water, and land quality.

Thesis Seminar I

Educational Statistics

The course aims at equipping students with various intermediate techniques of analysing and reporting data. The course involves a practical component that interfaces students with extensive use of computer data analysis tools, such as SPSS. 2. The University of Cape Coast invites sealed Tenders from eligible suppliers for the supply of the above goods or services. Tendering will be conducted through the National Competitive Tendering (NCT) procedures specified in the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663) as amended by Act 914, 2016 and the Guidelines of the Public Procurement Authority of the Republic of Ghana.

3. Interested eligible Tenderers may obtain further information from The Procurement Office, University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast, and inspect the bidding document at the address and location given from Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 4.00 pm local time each day.

4. A complete set of Tender documents in English may be purchased by interested Tenderers on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon the payment of a non-refundable fee of GH¢200.00 for each document. The method of payment will be by cash, or bank draft to University of Cape Coast. The document will be obtained personally.

5. Tenders must be deposited in the Tender Box located at the Procurement Office, Central Administration Building, Old Site, at or before 11:00am, on Thursday, 5th March, 2020.

6. Tenders shall be valid for a period of 90 days after the deadline for Tender submission. Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for appointment to the positions of

  1. Systems Librarian at the Rank of Senior Assistant Librarian and Assistant Librarian.

The Systems Librarian shall coordinate and manage the Integrated Library Information Systems of the University of Cape Coast Library System.

He/ She will lead in the design, implementation and maintenance of the Integrated Library Information Systems. Focusing on visibility, accessibility, sustainability and performance. The Systems Librarian shall also automate the workflow and optimize operations of the University Library Systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide broad support, solution and standard for the Integrated Library Information Systems.
  2. Design, Implement and maintain the Library Management Systems.
  3. Manage and Support the Library websites and the E-library.
  4. Manage and support the University Institutional Repositories (IR).
  5. Manage and support library hardware and software that support library services and operations eg. KOHA, Dspace, EZProxy, LibGuide etc.
  6. Manage and support Library Servers and Networks.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. PhD or MPhil or MSc (Research) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or Information Science.
  2. Professional certificates in Librarianship and ICT will be an advantage.
  3. Evidence of Research and Scholarly Publications.
  4. Considerable work experience in the following:
    1. Academic Library settings or environment.
    2. Library automation / Integrated Library systems and technologies.
    3. Client server environment UNIX, LINUX, ORACLE, MySQL, XML, PIN etc.
    4. Knowledge of cataloguing principles including MARC and MARC 21.
    5. Knowledge of web development and data use management
    6. Programming language (HTML, CSS, Java script, Python etc.)

NB:  Systems Librarian at the rank of Senior Assistant Librarian must have a PhD and Publications.

Systems Librarian at the rank of Junior Assistant Librarian or Assistant Librarian must have a minimum of MPhil or MSc or MA (Research).

  • Have taught in a reputable university or a comparable institution for a minimum of four (4) years as Senior Lecturer.
  • Additional professional qualification such as Fellowship may be advantageous.

  • Possess a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in any of the areas of specialization.
  • Have at least four (4) years teaching/research experience as a Lecturer.

    • Possess a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in any of the areas of specialization.
    • Have at least two (2) years post-qualification teaching and research experience in a University or an analogous institution of higher learning.
