History:
The Department of Chemistry is one of the major centres of chemical science in the country. The department was established in 1962 as one of the first departments in the University of Cape Coast to help meet the manpower needs of the country especially in the field of chemistry and chemical education at the second cycle schools.
The Department of Chemistry is one of the departments in the School of Physical Science, which is located in the heart of the academic centre of the University. It shares the first block with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics
