This mission is achieved through teaching and training backed by applied research and professional service. The department focuses on programmes that are innovative, developmental, progressive and career oriented with strong industry collaboration.
History: 
The Department of Human Resource Management (HRM) was established in the 2016/2017 academic year. It was carved out of the erstwhile department of management studies. The Department was established to turn out graduates who have the capability to assume specialist, generalist and managerial positions in human resource departments. The Department offers training in Human Resource Management at both the postgraduate and undergraduate levels in the following three major programmes: Master of Commerce (Human Resource Management) Master of Business Administration (Human Resource Management) Bachelor of Commerce (Human Resource Management)

Human Resource Management function in effective business organisations is seen as a strategic partner that is no more subservient to other functions in the organisation, but rather takes part in formulating organisational strategies and also implements those strategies through human resource activities. Globally, Human Resource Management (HRM) plays a strategic role in managing people as well as the workplace culture and environment to foster organisational success. However, management of human Resources has for a long time been a key business challenge due to the dynamics of the national and global business environment and the demands of employees. Therefore, for Ghana to make progress and succeed in achieving its development goals, it is imperative for its organisations to have HR professionals that are equipped to deal with management of employees in a knowledge economy where varied work situations exist. Why Study at the Department of Human Resource Management The Department equips students with competencies that are needed in the job market. The Department seeks to equip persons already occupying various roles in HR and those who intend to build careers in the HR profession with skills and in-depth knowledge in Human Resource Management.
