VACANCIES
The University of Cape Coast invites applications from qualified and competent professionals to fill the following vacant positions in the following Directorates/College which will become vacant from 1st August, 2026:
i. Director, Directorate of Finance (DoF)
ii. Director, Directorate of Internal Audit (DIA),
iii. Director, Directorate of Information, Communication & Technology Services (DICTS),
iv. Director, Directorate of Public Affairs (DPA)
v. Director, Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance (DAPQA)
vi. Provost, College of Health and Allied Sciences.
1. DIRECTORATE OF FINANCE (DoF)
Position: Director of Finance
The Director of Finance is the Chief Accounting Officer and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor through the Registrar for coordinating and supervising all accounting and financial activities in the University.
Qualifications/Experience
Candidates seeking appointment to this position must:
a. possess a postgraduate degree in Accounting/Finance/Audit;
b. be a member in good standing of any recognised professional accounting body e.g. ICA, ACCA, CIMA, etc;
c. have at least ten (10) years post-qualification working experience as a professional accountant;
d. have served as Deputy Director of Finance in a university; and
e. have considerable knowledge of a university financial administration.
Duties/Responsibilities
The Director of Finance shall be responsible for:
a. the general administration of financial and all accounting matters of the University;
b. initiating action and introducing accounting systems and procedures;
c. controlling of special advances and imprest;
d. overseeing all bills receivable and payable both locally and internationally;
e. exercising due and proper care over the work of revenue collectors and guard against any form of embezzlement, fraud and other irregularities; and
f. the overall activities of the various sections in the Directorate and custodian of all accounting documents.
Tenure of Office
The position, which is full-time, is for a six (6) year term, renewable for another term of six (6) years only, if that is not beyond the statutory retiring age.
2. DIRECTORATE OF INTERNAL AUDIT (DIA)
Position: Director of Internal Audit
The Director of Internal Audit is the Head of the Directorate of Internal Audit and reports to Council through the Vice-Chancellor. He/she performs all customary functions of an Internal Auditor.
Qualifications/Experience
Candidates seeking appointment to this position must:
i. possess a postgraduate degree in Accounting/Finance/Audit;
ii. be a member in good standing of any recognised professional accounting body e.g. ICA, ACCA, CIMA, etc;
iii. have served as Deputy Director of Internal Audit in a university;
iv. have at least ten (10) years post-qualification working experience as a professional accountant and with the requisite experience in internal auditing and controls; and
v. have considerable knowledge of a university set up.
Duties/Responsibilities
The Director of Internal Audit shall be responsible for:
i. reviewing and appraising, where necessary, the adequacy, soundness and applications of accounting, financial and operational controls;
ii. ascertaining the extent of compliance with established policies, plans and procedures and appraise the quality of performance of those carrying out assigned responsibilities;
iii. ascertaining the extent to which assets are accounted for and safeguarded against losses of all kinds;
iv. ascertaining the reliability of accounting and other data developed within the University;
v. providing assurance to the Vice-Chancellor, and for that matter, the University Council, that there is an adequate system of Internal Controls;
vi. ensuring that policies and procedures are appropriate and not wasteful;
vii. ensuring that reliable records form the basis for the preparation of appropriate financial and other data provided for decision-making;
viii. drawing the Vice-Chancellor’s attention to deficiencies in the system e.g. duplication of functions, excessive waste of resources and other inefficiencies and suggest for remedies where necessary; and
ix. carrying out special reviews of accounting systems with a view to stamping out identified weaknesses;

3. DIRECTORATE OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (DICTS)
Position: Director of DICTS
The Director is the Head of the DICTS and reports to the Vice-Chancellor through the Registrar for overseeing the viable functioning of the DICTS within the University.
Qualification/ Experience
Candidates seeking appointment to this position must:
i. Possess any of the following: MBA/M.Sc./MPhil in Computer Science/ Computer Engineering/Computer Telecommunications/ Management Information Systems etc;
ii. Be a member in good standing of a relevant and recognised professional body;
iii. Have served as Deputy Director in a university; and
iv. Have at least ten (10) years post-qualification working experience as a Senior Member.
Duties and Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the Director include:
i. Developing policies, programmes and schedules that include privacy and security for academic and administrative information processing and computer services to meet goals and objectives of the University;
ii. Developing, direct and manage all computing and IT strategic plans of the University;
iii. Providing leadership for the development of a progressive IT environment within the University and all satellite campuses;
iv. Overseeing the development of the University’s IT investment, advise senior management on strategic systems conversions and integration in support of institutional goals and objectives;
v. Overseeing the design and facilitating the integration of sound IT architecture, technology standards and best practices in the University;
vi. Ensuring the identification and installation of appropriate and progressive IT infrastructure that can support administration (e.g., Network application software, storage system, IT Security, Server Platforms, Communication Lines, equipment etc.); and
vii. Interacting with University Management on implementation of new applications and changes to existing computer systems and software as far as the capture, storage, processing and communication lines are concerned.

4. DIRECTORATE OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS (DPA)
Position: Director of Public Affairs
The Director of Public Affairs is the head of the Directorate and reports to the Vice-Chancellor through the Registrar for building and maintaining the University’s corporate image and relationships with key publics, managing University events and communicating information to and from the University’s stakeholders. He/she plans and implements the strategic and operational aspects of the Public Relations and Corporate Affairs of the University.
Qualifications/Experience
Candidates seeking appointment to this position must have:
a) a post-graduate degree in Communication/Public Relations/Media or a relevant area;
b) be member of a recognised relevant professional body;
c) a minimum of ten (10) years of post-qualification working experience as a senior member and possess considerable strategic, interpersonal and collegial skills and be able to function within the higher education sector; and
d) served as Deputy Registrar in a university.
Duties/Responsibilities
i. Managing Press/Media Relations;
ii. Conducting perception studies;
iii. Controlling and regulating university notices, posters, banners, etc;
iv. Documenting University history, culture and symbols;
v. Undertaking publication of University documents;
vi. Providing, media and photo coverage for University functions;
vii. Monitoring University website to ensure that it is up to date with accurate information;
viii. Handling Convocation matters;
ix. Managing the University’s Strategic corporate communication;
x. Providing effective collaboration, syndication and affiliation with local and international media partners;
xi. Coordinating the transmission of public lectures and other University functions on various media platforms;
xii. Coordinating and supervising the activities of University Radio, TV and Internet Broadcasting facilities and using Campus Broadcasting Services Centre (CBS) as a laboratory to train students;
xiii. Servicing relevant Committees/Boards; and
xiv. Any other related duty that may be assigned by Management.

5. DIRECTOR, DIRECTORATE OF ACADEMIC PLANNING AND QUALITY ASSURANCE (DAPQA)
Position: Director of DAPQA
The Director is the Head of DAPQA and reports to the Vice-Chancellor. He/she shall be of a professorial rank.
Key Responsibilities
The Director of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance shall be responsible for coordinating the planning and monitoring of academic programmes in the University. He/she shall also spearhead the university wide quality assurance system including all sections and the various mechanisms designed to maintain high performance standards. He/she shall report to the Vice-Chancellor.
Qualification and Experience
Applicant must:
a. be internationally acclaimed scholar of a professorial rank;
b. hold a PhD in a relevant discipline;
c. have considerable teaching, research and administrative experience in a university or analogous institution; and
d. be well grounded in the principles of total quality management.
Term of Office
The position, which is full-time, is for a four (4) year term, renewable for another term of four (4) years only, if that is not beyond statutory retiring age.
6. COLLEGE OF HEALTH AND ALLIED SCIENCES (CoHAS)
Position: Provost of CoHAS
The Provost is the Academic and Administrative Head of the College and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for providing leadership to the College.
Key Responsibilities
He/she is responsible for maintaining and promoting the efficiency and good order of the College in accordance with policies and procedures prescribed by the University of Cape Coast Law, 1992 (PNDCL 278), the Statutes and/or as may be determined from time to time by the University Council, the Academic Board and the College Board.
Qualification and Experience
Applicants must be internationally acclaimed scholars of professorial status. They must be individuals of stature and integrity with strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, capable of executing the responsibilities outlined above. They must also possess a terminal degree (PhD) in a relevant discipline with over ten (10) years working experience in a reputable university or related academic institution.
Applicants must also show evidence of the following qualities:
a. demonstrated capacity to manage a College and to foster and promote good internal and external relations;
b. proven ability to provide strong and visionary leadership and innovation, and to project the College locally and internationally through research, graduate output and extension; and
c. proven ability to raise funds to support the activities of the College.
