JOB VACANCY AGRI-FOOD SYSTEMS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP CENTER, UNIVERSITY OF CAPE COAST

The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) and the University of Cape Coast have agreed to implement the TAGDev 2.0 Programme in Ghana. The goal of TAGDev 2.0 is to ensure that Africa’s young people and their institutions drive inclusive, equitable, and climate-smart resilient socio-economic development in their societies. The RUFORUM is coordinating the programme for sponsorship from the MasterCard Foundation.  The service agreement is to establish the Agri-food Systems and Entrepreneurship Center, (ASEC) which shall serve as TAGDev 2.0 Programme Coordinating Unit for the first phase of 5 years at the University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast, Ghana.

 

Therefore, ASEC University of Cape Coast is recruiting staff positions below to operate from its office at Cape Coast and report to the Programme Coordinator.

 

Job Title: Associate Programme Officer

Employment type: Full-time Employment contract

Duties and Responsibilities

·       Support the Programme Coordinator at the implementing university in the administration and technical delivery of the Programme.

·       Provide administrative support in selecting, recruiting, and building capacity for Programme staff and scholars.

·       Establish partnerships with the private sector, TVETS, and other institutions to advance university-community engagement, student training, entrepreneurship

·       Support the Programme coordinator and RUFORUM Secretariat team in mobilizing resources to support Programme activities for scaling and supporting other partner universities.

·       Participate in monthly Programme meetings.

·       Proportion of resources raised to support scaling up and out

·       Produce and share Monthly, quarterly, and annual reports with the Programme Director at the RUFORUM Secretariat.

·       Conduct beneficiary students' studies.

·       Initiate institutional transformation.

·       Document and Publish Programme learning outcomes.

·       Support fundraising to support the scale and sustainability of the Programme operations.

Requirements (Education, experience, technical competencies required of the job)

·         Masters in agricultural sciences and related disciplines

·         PhD will be an added advantage

·         At least 5 years experience in coordinating development programmes.

·         Experience in resource mobilization with evidence of funds mobilized from the international community

·         Evidence of publication in SCOPUS-indexed journals

·         Flexibility in working schedule and willingness to travel at short notice

 

Job Title: Entrepreneurship and Business Development Officer

Employment type: Full-time Employment contract

Duties and Responsibilities

·       Lead the implementation of the TAGDev programme’s entrepreneurship and business development initiatives at the University   

·       Develop the University level strategy and operational plans for the Business incubation hubs

·       Working closely with the Senior Programme Officer Business Creation, Incubation and Jobs

·       Promote the aims and values of RUFORUM related to Business development

·       Coordinate the delivery of business development services to students, start-up owners, and agricultural value chain stakeholders

·       Develop Institutional entrepreneurship, investment, and business development strategy

·       Prepare Monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports on entrepreneurship, investment, and business development activities and the proportion of enterprises/start-ups surviving

·       Build business linkages, collaborations, and networking initiatives

·       Supporting entrepreneurship, investment, and business incubation and

·       Contribute to additional financial resources mobilization.

 

Requirements (Education, experience, technical competencies required of the job)

  • Master’s degree in agricultural sciences, agribusiness, economics, and related sciences
  • At least 3 years experience in a similar position with reputable organization
  • Experience in coordinating university-level incubation processes and mentorship of startups
  • Sound understanding of SMEs sector needs

 

Job Title: Gender, wellness, and Careers officer

Employment type: Full-time Employment contract

 

Duties and Responsibilities

·       Ensure gender and inclusion mainstreaming and proactive technical support to the organization on gender issues

·       Plan, implement, and undertake follow-up on gender issues, wellness, and inclusion-related activities

·       Provide technical support to the Programme coordinator and associate Programme officer in developing and executing gender mainstreaming, wellness, and inclusion plans

·       Collaborative with the SPO Business Creation, Incubation and Jobs, PO Digital Economy Integration, and PO Business Development Services to develop strategies and implement actions for increasing the quality of students' transitions to dignified and fulfilling work.

·       Undertake gender mainstreaming activities

·       Produce monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports on gender, wellness, and inclusion services and initiatives and reports

·       Launch and maintain gender, inclusion, and wellness mainstreaming initiatives.

Requirements (Education, experience, technical competencies required of the job)

·      Masters degree in gender, education, law, social administration, psychology and related fields

·      At least 2 years working experience

·      Experience working with young people

·      Strong knowledge of safeguarding standards for young people

·      Flexibility in working schedules and willingness to travel at short notice

 

Job Title: Finance Administrator

Employment type: Full-time Employment contract

Duties and Responsibilities

·       Support financial administration and accounts of the Programme at the University

·       Ensure compliance with approved financial management guidelines.

·       Prepare all requisite reconciliations and provide timely financial returns to the RUFORUM Secretariat

·       Possess a Degree in Commerce (Finance and Accounting option), Business Administration (Finance and Accounting option) or equivalent

·       Ability to use financial and accounting software applications.

·       Ability to critically analyze budget processes, expenditure control, budget performance, and problems in finance and accounting.

·       Ability to prepare accurate and quality financial reports according to prescribed reporting formats.

·       Flexibility in working schedules including travel at short notice.
