Optics has been termed an “empowering science” as it is the basis of many modern advances in high technology. It is hoped that improving optics and photonics education will result in a viable and well-educated workforce for emerging industries in developing countries particularly African countries. Such a School will empower the teaching work force ability to embark on meaningful optics experiments and bring a better understanding in the use of Optics for development.
The meeting would take the form of teaching/ Lectures on basic optics, with related hands-on activities and modern optical devices. Projects using optics-based techniques will be develope.
