The Institute of Education has organised a two-day subject-based workshop for a cross-section of tutors from 44 public and 6 private Colleges of Education in the country. The first session catered for two tutors each for both English Language and Mathematics from each college and the second session had three science tutors in Physics, Chemistry and Biology respectively representing each college. In all, 350 tutors will benefit from the workshop comprising 100 each for both English language and Mathematics and 150 science tutors.

The Central Regional branch of the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry is seeking collaboration with the University of Cape Coast (UCC) in the areas of research, consultancy and training. According to the Chamber, the collaboration would facilitate and help harness the abundant natural resources of the Central Region into business ventures. The Regional Chairman of the Chamber, Mr. Anthony Pokoo-Aikins, made this known when he led a delegation to pay a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah, at his office.

Qing Jian International, a Chinese construction and engineering firm, has presented a cheque for GHc30,000 to support the Institutional Advancement Office (IAO) for the organization of the upcoming second Advancement Lecture Series. The gesture was part of the company’s Social Corporate Responsibility to the University. Receiving the cheque on behalf of the IAO, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah, expressed gratitude to Qing Jian International for the donation. He commended the company for its professionalism in the construction sector.

A training programme on Climate Change Adaptation and Coastal Management has been held for some selected journalists on campus. The five-day training programme which was organised by the Centre for Coastal Management (CCM) in conjunction with the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences with support from the United States Agency for Development brought together 17 journalists. As part of the training programme, the facilitators and participants embarked on a field trip to Anlo Beach community near Shama in the Western region.

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. George K.T. Oduro, has appealed to politicians to stop politicising educational issues and allow institutional governance structures to function effectively. Prof. Oduro stressed that when "educational system becomes extremely political rather than educational entity, students become the losers".

The Kwame Nkrumah Hall (KNH) has launched its 20th anniversary celebrations. The School of Business has awarded 173 students with various prizes for their outstanding performance during the 2016/2017 academic year. The ceremony, dubbed the School of Business Dean’s Award, was to recognise high performing students and encourage other students in the School to redouble their efforts to achieve similar feats.
