The Department of Ghanaian Languages and Linguistics has received a donation of assorted ‘textbooks’ from Mr Felix Kpogo, a former student and Teaching Assistant who is currently pursuing PhD. in Linguistics at the University of Boston, United States of America.
Stating the purpose of donation, a former student of UCC, Mr Abdul Kuba, who presented the books on behalf of the donor, said the presentation was to show appreciation to the Department for nurturing him to rise to this level in academia. “The Department has been his home and donating these books is his greatest desire,” he noted. He assured the Department of Mr Kpogo’s continuous support and expressed the hope that the books would be beneficial to both lecturers and students.
The Department Needs the Support of Alumni
Receiving the books, the Head of Department of Ghanaian Languages and Linguistics, Dr Emmanuel Amo Ofori, expressed his profound gratitude to Mr Felix Kpogo for the donation to assist a good cause in the Department. He said “as a Department, we normally encourage our former students to always come back home and do us the honours by assisting the Department in any form to promote teaching and learning.
Dr Ofori appealed to other alumni to emulate the gesture by Mr Kpogo to also assist the Department with teaching, learning and research resources such as computers, printer, and books among others.
