The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SoPPS), University of Cape Coast has held a day’s orientation for its first year students.
The programme was aimed at orienting the students on the overview of the UCC PharmD programme, registration and examination issues, academic life on campus, relationships, dressing, how to study, amongst others.

Opening the orientation, the Dean, Prof. Elvis Ofori Ameyaw, said the School received hordes of applications and used the entrance exams and interview process to select students who deserved to read the programme.
“So if you made it. It is based on your efforts and merit. Congratulations, You are here to be disoriented and reoriented.” he added.

He urged the students to take their studies seriously and build their potential to become responsible pharmacists who will contribute to the nation’s development.
Prof. Ameyaw encouraged the students to take their studies seriously and read extensively to broaden their knowledge.
He advised them to eschew all forms of examination malpractices and pursue excellence and hard work.
Mr. Isaac Adom Konadu
The Director of the Directorate of Human Resource, UCC, Mr. Isaac Adom Konadu, in a remark, congratulated the students on their admission and urged them to be good future pharmacists by taking their education seriously.
He said the future of the country was in their bosom; hence they must eschew all forms of irresponsible acts, focus on their education, and strive to attain higher laurels in the future.
He further urged them to take opportunities that come their way in school and society, and always show love and respect to their lecturers and peers.
Mr. Konadu urged them to think about innovation and entrepreneurship in order to make a difference in society.
