The Chancellor of University of Cape Coast, UCC, Dr. (Sir) Sam Jonah, has challenged management and staff of the University to work tirelessly to maintain high academic standards to move the University forward.
According to him, UCC should not rest on its laurels over its ranking as the best in Ghana and Africa, but rather intensify efforts to strive for academic excellence to achieve more.
The Chancellor made these remarks in audience with management of UCC as part of his day’s visit to the University.
Recently, the Times Higher Education World Rankings ranked UCC as first (1st) in Ghana.

To sustain the enviable academic feat, Sir Jonah charged UCC to be guided by the principles of discipline, determination, commitment and quality leadership.

Sir Jonah was full of praise for the honour brought to UCC by Staff and urged them to concentrate their efforts and doggedness to always maintain UCC as the “University of Competitive Choice” in Africa.
The Chancellor described as timely the vision of the Vice-Chancellor to make UCC an entrepreneurial university and called for teamwork between management and staff to consolidate the gains of the University.

During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, after welcoming the Chancellor to the University, touted the remarkable achievements of the Chancellor towards the growth of the University.
He enumerated some of the developmental projects ongoing outside the university, including the College of Distance Education (CoDE) project at Agona Nyarkrom in the Central Region.
Prof. Boampong lauded the Chancellor for showing leadership which had translated into the academic feats of the University.
