UCC, Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences discuss enhancing academic cooperation

The academic relationship between the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, Germany, has received further boost following the exploration of opportunities for further collaboration to serve the interests of both institutions.

Since 2011, the School of Business of University of Cape Coast has benefited from the collaboration with Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences through staff and students exchange programmes, amongst others.

To bolster the collaboration, a high-ranking delegation from the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, led by the Vice President for International Affairs and Diversity, Prof. Dr. Jurgen Bode, met with the Vice-Chancellor of UCC, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong. Their discussion focused on ways to deepen the academic ties to include other departments of the UCC.

During the meeting, Prof. Bode said his institution would like to collaborate with UCC on sustainability, research, career development, among others.

Unlike Germany with highly developed industries, he also touched on entrepreneurship where students of UCC would be entrepreneurially minded to start their own business after school in Ghana.

Prof. Bode underscored the importance of working together to achieve the objectives of the meeting with right people from both institutions.

For his part, Prof Boampong expressed excitement that the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences would like to collaborate with other faculties, schools and departments of UCC.

He told the delegation about his vision of making UCC an entrepreneurial university and welcomed the idea of Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences to expand the collaboration.

The meeting was attended by the Registrar of UCC, Mr. Jeff Teye Onyame, and other UCC officials.

A team of academics from Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences accompanying Prof. Bode was also present.
