The University of Cape Coast, UCC, has embarked on a health walk to increase awareness of the UCC at 60 anniversary celebrations scheduled for October 2022.
The exercise saw excellent patronage as management, staff, students and a section of the public participated. The walk, which began at 6:30 am and ended at 8:30 am, was on the theme: “My Health My Life; be on the move.” Backed by brass band music, the 7.8 kilometres walk took participants through some principal streets of the University.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, who addressed participants after the walk, thanked the Almighty God for guiding them through the walk and expressed his gratitude to the participants for the great turnout. He said the walk was organised because the University valued the health of its students and staff and urged all to work towards living healthy lifestyles.
The Vice-Chancellor also urged participants to be part of other events earmarked for the University’s 60thanniversary celebration.
Clad in his UCC branded 60th anniversary T-shirt, the Chairman of UCC Council, Prof. Obeng Mireku, urged participants to keep exercising since it was one of the surest ways of keeping a healthy body.
After the two-hour walk, the participants were taken through some rigorous aerobics session led by gym instructors at the Kwame Nkrumah Hall.
As side attraction, participants were treated to sumptuous kenkey and fish.
