REACT Humanitarian Network, a UK-based Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has presented several titles of economics-based books to the School of Economics.
Presenting the books at the School of Economics Conference Room, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of REACT Humanitarian Network, Mr. Prince Osei Akowuah, said he donated the books to the School so students would read to broaden their horizon.
He further indicated that the books were to complement lecturers' efforts in nurturing students of the School.
He noted that his organisation believed in investing in the minds of students for the future of the country in particular and the continent at large.
Mr. Akowuah stated that he was proud of the feats chalked up by the University of Cape Coast (UCC) in the 2023 Times Higher Education rankings and cautioned UCC not to rest on its laurels.
" We are proud to be associated with your success. It is good to know that you are the best and you will continue to be the best... We like to associate ourselves with the best," he continued, referring to UCC
The CEO urged authorities of the School and students to make judicious use of the books to enhance teaching and learning.
The Provost of the College of Humanities and Legal Studies, Prof. Kwame Osei Kwarteng, who received the books on behalf of the School thanked REACT Humanitarian Network for the gesture and tasked students of the School of Economics to put the books to good use.
He encouraged the students to make reading a habit and take their studies seriously in order to achieve their goals in life.
On his part, the Dean of the School of Economics, Prof. James Attah Preprah, commended the NGO for continuously investing in education and expressed gratitude to Ms. Ernestina Larbie, a Lecturer at the Department of Business and Social Sciences Education-UCC for facilitating the donation.
