The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has highlighted measures being implemented to sanitise the downstream petroleum industry through the enforcement of industry regulations.
That, according to the NPA, was to ensure a level playing field for all operators.
The Chief Executive Officer of the NPA, Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, said this at the maiden edition of the Gown and the Town Series organised by the Faculty of Arts of the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
It was on the topic, "Downstream Petroleum Industry in Ghana; The State of Play."
Dr. Abdul-Hamid, who is also a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Religion and Human Values-UCC, added that the NPA would spare no effort to ensure that petroleum service providers comply with the various guidelines, rules and regulations set out for operators in the downstream petroleum industry.

The CEO explained that the NPA operates a robust monitoring regime to protect the interest of petroleum consumers in the country. He,therefore, asked for increased cooperation between NPA and players within the downstream sector to ensure security of energy supply and affordability as a result of the global oil and gas market volatility.
Consequently, he pointed out that the NPA had begun regional outreach to create awareness about its operations to engender mutual trust and cooperation with players in the petroleum downstream sector.
Dr. Abdul-Hamid indicated that petroleum consumers should be rest assured that they were receiving the right quantity of petroleum products, at the right price, at the right quantity, at the various retail outlets they interfaced with.
