School of Business-UCC organises orientation for 60 GAF officers

The School of Business of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has organised a day’s orientation programme for sixty personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) who have been admitted to pursue MBA in Accounting, Finance, Management, Human Resource, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, and Procurement and Supply Chain Management programmes.

The orientation programme was to take the students through the academic governance of UCC and to also allow the students to ask questions about academic activities at the University.

Addressing the students, the Dean of the School of Business, Prof. John Gartchie Gatsi, congratulated the students for having secured admission into the University, describing it as the first step towards the fulfilment of their dreams.

He observed that there was an increasing demand for MBA programmes by professionals and industry players who barely had time for regular programmes, given their work schedules.

Given that, Prof. Gatsi said the School of Business found it imperative to roll out the sandwich MBA Programmes to build the professional capacities of the military personnel.

He urged the students to tap into the rich experience of the pool of lecturers within the school.

Prof. Gatsi announced that plans were advanced for the School to roll out a PhD in Business Administration.

For his part, the Commander in Charge of Haizel School of Finance, Lt. Col. Raphael Koleyevu, encouraged the students to take their studies seriously and eschew acts of dishonesty and cheating, especially during examinations and warned that such acts were totally unacceptable and would not be tolerated under any circumstance by the Ghana Armed Forces.

The Provost of the College of Humanities and Legal Studies, Prof Kwame Osei Kwarteng, who chaired the orientation, congratulated the students on their admission and entreated them to take their studies seriously.

Other University officials took turns to inform the fresh students about the services rendered by their respective outfits to aid them in their academic pursuit.
