A matriculation ceremony has been held for fresh students of the College of Distance Education (CoDE) in the Middle Zone of Ghana.

The Middle Zone comprises Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and Eastern Regions of Ghana. Also present at the ceremony were fresh students from Sefwi Wiawso, Sefwi Debiso, Bibiani and Dunkwa-on-Offin study centres.

The University has held a matriculation ceremony for  the College of Distance Education (CoDE) fresh students from the Southern Zone at the Congregation grounds.

Distance students from the Southern Zone comprising the Central and Western Regions converged at UCC campus for the ceremony.

A team of researchers from the College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, University of Cape Coast, has introduced inmates of the Ankaful Maximum Prison and some farmers in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem (KEEA) Municipal Assembly in the Central Region to 24 varieties of cowpea. The Cowpea Project which is aimed at identifying high yielding and disease resistant variety will later be released to seed production companies for onward distribution to farmers in Ghana.

A Shangai University of Sports delegation has called on the Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the Council Chamber.   Explaining the rationale behind the visit, Dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS), Prof. Moses Jojo Eghan said officials from Shangai were at UCC to seek further collaboration in the area of Sports Science and also sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University.  

A two-member delegation from the Kennesaw State University (KSU) has held discussions with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah, on a new initiative set to be rolled out by KSU in 2019/2020 academic year.

The Head of the Department of Communication Studies, Dr. Eric Opoku Mensah, has charged journalists and media practitioners to adhere to professional ethical standards in order to justify the status of the media as the fourth arm of government.

According to him, without professionalism, journalists lose their claim on the right to be watchdogs of government and society.
Dr. Mensah said this at the commemoration of the one-year anniversary of the relocation of ATL FM from Atlantic Hall to the Campus Broadcasting Services (CBS) edifice located behind Valco Hall.

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. George K.T. Oduro, has advised nurses and midwives to serve their clients with care and empathy in the discharge of their professional duties.
 
He implored nurses to make an impact on humanity so as to ensure proper delivery of healthcare.

“If people(nurses) know the importance of caring for those in pain; the importance of caring for the aged, they will be adding value to humanity,” he said.
 

The 2017 International Conference on Public Administration (ICPA) and International Symposium on West African Studies (ISWAS) has been held at the University of Cape Coast,UCC, with a call on African leaders to capitalize on their relationships with China to better the lots of their citizenry.
