The University of Cape Coast, in collaboration with the Students Financial Support Office, has

held the Maiden UCC Scholarship Awards ceremony for needy-but brilliant students in the

University.

 

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, in his opening remarks as the

Chairperson, said the Students' Financial Support Office was set up in 2019 with the University

The Office of the Dean of Students has organised a three-day orientation programme for fresh students admitted to the University for the 2020/2021 academic year.

COVID-19 Protocols

In order to ensure compliance with COVID-19 protocols, this year’s programme was decentralised and organised on College basis. The programme was held from Monday January 11 to 13, 2021.

Fresh students from the various colleges were taken through causes and prevention of the pandemic by staff from the Directorate of University Health Services (DUHS).

An expert in Air Quality Measurement, Dr. Charles Odame-Ankrah, has called for the implementation of a rigorous air monitoring scheme to ensure better health for people.
    
Speaking on the topic, “Air Quality and Health: Why we should worry”  at a joint public lecture organised under the auspices of the Department of Population and Health and the Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr. Odame-Ankrah noted that air pollution was one of the causes of death in the world.

The University has matriculated 59 inmates of the Nsawam Medium Security Prison in the Eastern Region who have been admitted to pursuing their studies through the College of Distance Education (CoDE).
    
Out of the total number, 32 are pursuing Diploma in Education(Junior High School) whiles 19 are studying Diploma in Commerce (Management option) and eight opted for the Diploma in Commerce (Accounting option).
