VACANCY

The University of Cape Coast invites applications from qualified and competent professionals to fill the position of Director of Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DICTS) which will become vacant from 1st August, 2026.

Position: Director of DICTS

The Director is the head of the DICTS and reports to the Vice-Chancellor through the Registrar for overseeing the viable functioning of the DICTS within the University.

Qualification/ Experience

Candidates seeking appointment to this position must:

           i.          possess any of the following: MBA/M.Sc./MPhil in Computer Science/ Computer Engineering/Computer Telecommunications/ Management Information Systems etc.;

          ii.          be a member in good standing of a relevant and recognized professional body;

      iii.            have served at a rank of Deputy Director in a university; and

        iv.          have at least ten (10) years post-qualification working experience as a Senior Member.

   Duties and Responsibilities

 The key responsibilities of the Director include:

           i.          Developing policies, programmes and schedules that include privacy and security for academic and administrative information processing and computer services to meet goals and objectives of the University;

          ii.          Developing, direct and manage all computing and IT strategic plans of the University;

        iii.          Providing leadership for the development of a progressive IT environment within the University and all satellite campuses;

        iv.          Overseeing the development of the University’s IT investment, advise senior management on strategic systems conversions and integration in support of institutional goals and objectives;

       v.            Overseeing the design and facilitating the integration of sound IT architecture, technology standards and best practices in the University;

      vi.            Ensuring the identification and installation of appropriate and progressive IT infrastructure that can support administration (e.g., Network application software, storage system, IT Security, Server Platforms, Communication Lines, equipment etc.); and

    vii.            Interacting with University Management on implementation of new applications and changes to existing computer systems and software as far as the capture, storage, processing and communication lines are concerned.

Term of Office

 The position, which is full-time, is for a six (6) year term, renewable for another term of six (6) years only, if that is not beyond the statutory retiring age.
