Staff members of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SoPPS) of the University of Cape Coast have received training on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) at a five-day workshop.

The training covered modules such as General Principles and Validation Master Plan, Quality and Validation of Facilities, as well as Cleaning Validation.

The rest were Validation of Equipment, Process Validation and Method Validation.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, says the University has chalked up a major feat in its Green Campus Project with over 90% success in the survival of trees planted on the University’s campus. This, he noted, was per the assessment of the Forestry Commission.

Prof. Nyarko-Boampong made the announcement when he led staff and students of the University to plant trees on the University campus as part of Green Ghana Day held across the country.

A professor of Agricultural Education, Prof. Edward Ntifo-Siaw, formerly of the School of Agriculture-UCC, who made the call, expressed shock that today's youth had the popular misconception that opportunities would rather knock on their doors to be embraced.

An alumnus of the Department of Crop Science of the School of Agriculture, University of Cape Coast (UCC), Mr Stephen Ashia, has presented a new Dell desktop computer and accessories worth GH¢15,000 to his alma mater.

Mr Stephen Ashia, the Manager and Chief Executive Officer of Organic and FT Cooperatives, Go Green Environmental and Sustainability Consult, and ABOCFA cooperative of Suhum, said the gesture was to enhance the Department of Crop Science’s work.

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) chapter of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), has provided financial support to UCC students from Mepe who were affected by the flooding caused by the Akosombo Dam spillage.

The gesture forms part of the Association's corporate social responsibility to mitigate the long-term impact of the disaster on the academic development of the beneficiary students.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Prof. (Mrs) Rosemond Boohene, has met with the Director of Research Support and Management at Nelson Mandela University, Dr. Palesa Natasha Mmankwe Mothapo.

At the meeting, Prof. Boohene expressed her warm welcome to Dr. Mothapo, who said her visit to UCC was a harbinger for a delegation from the Nelson Mandela University to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the management of UCC in July 2024.

The 2006 Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) alumni group of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has presented a cheque for GHS6,000 to the University.

The kind gesture, according to the President of the BCom 2006 Year Group, Mr. Asare Okae-Anti, was in support of the UCC@60 anniversary, which was marked in October 2022.

He explained that the Group had the welfare of the University at heart, hence the donation and further gave assurance that they would work hard to assist the University in other areas.

Three hundred and ninety-one (391) students have been honoured at the maiden College of Education Studies Deans’ Award ceremony at the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

The event celebrated 71 students from the Faculty of Educational Foundations; 207 from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Education and 113 from the Faculty of Science and Technology Education for their academic hard work.
