A Post-doctoral Fellow at the Africa Centre of Excellence on Coastal Resilience (ACECoR), Dr. Edéya Orobiyi Rodrigue Pelebe, is undertaking a one-month professional internship at ECO-BENIN "Benin Ecotourism Concern" in Benin.
This initiative is a component of the ACECoR staff capacity development programme.

During his internship, Dr Pelebe will be involved in activities relating to planning and execution of patrols on the high seas as part of the fight against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing in Benin.
He will also participate in research and conservation of mangroves and turtles, community management of community biodiversity conservation areas and marine protected areas in Benin.
Whilst at ECO-BENIN, field trips have been planned for Dr Pelebe to diagnose emerging fisheries related issues in key Benin coastal communities.
ECO-BENIN is an Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) with more than 20 years of experience in the service of nature and communities.
The NGO is involved in biodiversity conservation; application of laws and regulations; monitoring of illegal practices and advocacy.
In addition, the NGO undertakes activities in the areas of community development, sustainable income-generating activities for women and the sustainable use of natural resources and biodiversity for ecotourism.
ECO-BENIN played a key role in the creation of Community Biodiversity Conservation Areas and Marine Protected Areas in Benin.
