Governing Council, they had a critical role to play to ensure the realization of the President’s educational agenda.
He urged the Governing Council to pay close attention to the instructional and curriculum aspect of the
University. “I know that invariably you are bogged down with petitions, governance and infrastructure issues with
less space to be engrossed in the teaching and learning process. You should be interested in the quality of the
graduates that are coming from your institution. Be interested in whether your graduates are getting or not getting
jobs,” he said. He further expressed that “Universities must reinvent themselves to become more versatile and
more agile to facilitate the transformation agenda of the country”.
In his acceptance remarks on behalf of Members, the newly sworn-in Chairman, Prof. Obeng Mireku, expressed
profound appreciation for the appointment and promised that he and his team will work hard to make the
University a world-class Centre of Excellence. “We pledge to uphold, fulfil, and promote policy directives,
mandates, core values, and statutes of the University as we together with relevant stakeholders, leverage on the
achievements of the previous Governing Council to move the institution forward,” he assured.
