The Senior Staff Association (SSA) of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has donated exercise and reading books to four basic schools in the catchment communities of the University.
The beneficiary schools were St. Anthony Anglican Basic School, Amamoma Presbyterian Basic School, Imam Khomeini Islamic Basic School and Kwaprow Basic School.
The donation formed part of activities marking this year’s SSA-UCC Week celebration held in October 2023.
Presentation
Presenting the books to the heads of the beneficiary schools, the Chairman of SSA-UCC, Mr. Sandy Kumi-Sinatra, expressed the hope that the presentation of the books would motivate the pupils to study hard.
He described the gift as the widow’s mite of SSA-UCC's contribution to improve teaching and learning in the schools.
Mr. Sandy Kumi-Sinatra, Chairman of SSA-UCC, presenting the books to Mrs. Hannah Tachie-Menson, Headteacher of Kwaprow Basic School, and Mr. Joseph Mensah, Headteacher of Kwaprow Junior High School.
Mr. Kumi-Sinatra used the opportunity to advise final year students, prevailing on them to take their studies seriously so that they could further their education up to the tertiary level.
The Headteacher of Kwaprow Basic School, Mrs. Hannah Tachie-Menson, on behalf of all the four schools, thanked SSA-UCC for the gesture, which she noted, would go a long way to improve academic work in the schools.
