A new leadership of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) branch of the Senior Staff Association Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG) has been sworn into office for a four-year term.
The new executives are Mr. Christopher Aggrey, Chairman; Mr. Isaac Kweku Grantson, Vice-Chairman; Mr. Jacob Ewudzie, Secretary; Mr. Robert Mensah Essilfie, Trustee; Miss. Gifty Amewudah, Assistant Secretary; and Mrs.Winifred Twenewaa Addaney; Women’s Commissioner.
With this mandate, the executives seek to champion the welfare of the members and represent the association in negotiations.
Ms. Anastasia Asante of the Legal Affairs Office led them to swear the oath of office and secrecy respectively.
The Provost of the College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, Prof. Moses Joojo Eghan, who chaired the ceremony, congratulated the new officers on their election and inauguration.

He urged members to help the executives to achieve their mandate because the task ahead would not be easy.
He highlighted the need for harmony in building an effective and cordial relationship with members of the association, management and other associations.
He implored the new officers to listen to the concerns of members and continue to advocate for improved working conditions for them.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Christopher Aggrey expressed excitement at the opportunity to serve and promised to strengthen the relationship between staff and management in achieving organisational goals and workers’ welfare.
He maintained that the role of executives was to seek the welfare of its members through legitimate negotiations and not to antagonize management.

Mr. Aggrey called on members of the association to embrace the culture of unionism as it would ensure the association’s success and facilitate the achievements of its common goal.
The Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Denis Aheto, in a remark, congratulated the newly elected executives and tasked them to prioritise the welfare of members.
While recognizing SSA-UCC as a very important stakeholder in the University, the Pro Vice-Chancellor urged the SSA-UCC leadership to deliver on their mandate to the expectation of members and the general good of the association.
In attendance were the Registrar, Mr. Enoch Abbeyquaye and the Director of the Directorate of Human Resource, Mr. Isaac Adom -Konadu.
