A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Tacoma Education Foundation, has donated teaching and learning materials to Imam Khomeini Islamic Basic School situated at Amamoma, one of the communities surrounding the University of Cape Coast. The items included books, pencils, erasers and sharpeners. The Foundation seeks to support deprived schools with books and other learning materials to promote teaching and learning. During the presentation, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tacoma Education Foundation, Dr. Benjamin Aboagye, said the gesture was to aid teaching and learning in the school. Dr. Aboagye, who is also a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Forensic Sciences, University of Cape Coast, said the Foundation had interest in supporting community-based schools in deprived areas of the Central Region.

He called on authorities of the School to handle the books with care so as future generations could make use of them since books were the biggest heritage any generation could leave for its people. The Senior Lecturer expressed gratitude to a philanthropist, Mr. Kojo Kwakye, whose generosity towards the NGO made the donation see the light of day. For his part, the Head Teacher of the School, Mr. Abubakar Tijjani, commended the NGO for the donation and pledged to maintain the books for future students.Some pupils of the school with the donated books
He urged other philanthropists and corporate bodies to emulate the gesture of the NGO to support the development of education.
