TEWU swearing in

TEWU-UCC Swears in New Executives

The newly-elected executive members of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) branch of the Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU) have been sworn in.

The Director of Consular and General Services, Mrs. Alberta Yaa Graham, who administered the oath, commended the old Executives for their hard work and commitment to TEWU-UCC and urged them to continue supporting the Union so it could achieve more successes.

She expressed her confidence in the new executives and encouraged them to work assiduously to attain their stated goals. She also charged them to execute their mandate effectively to enhance the welfare of members of the Union.

Mrs. Graham advised the new officers to channel the concerns of TEWU-UCC to management of the University for prompt redress and ensure that the Union was free from industrial actions.

The director passionately appealed to the newly- elected president to give some of the appointing positions in his administration to women as the current leadership of TEWU-UCC was purely gendered.

For his part, the outgoing President of TEWU-UCC, Mr. Stephen Williams said he and his executives were happy to hand the baton to the new leaders and conveyed his unwavering support for his successor and his team.

The newly- elected President, Mr. Benjamin Mensah-Gorman, in his remarks assured good working relations  with management of UCC to maintain industrial peace and harmony on campus.

He added that the new executives would promote the welfare of all members, and ensure that resources of the Union at their disposal would be used judiciously to the benefit of its members.

The rest of the newly- inducted executives were Mr. Philip Kaaku, Vice-President; Mr. Benjamin Frank Hagan, Secretary; Mr. Ahmed Mahama, Assistant Secretary and Joseph Francis Ackon, Trustee.

Present at the swearing-in ceremony were a Senior Assistant Registrar at the Directorate of Human Resource, Mr. Alfred Attafuah and Ms. Jacinta Annan, an Assistant Registrar at the Directorate Human Resource.
