UCC Pro VC pays working visit to sections of the University

The Pro Vice-Chancellor of University of Cape Coast, Prof. (Mrs.) Rosemond Boohene, has paid a day’s working visit to some sections of the University to introduce herself to management and staff of these sections upon her assumption of office.  She also took advantage of the visits to interact with staff and familiarize with their operations.

The points of visit, three in number, included the College of Distance Education (CoDE), the Directorate of Academic Affairs and the Sam Jonah library.

At CoDE, Prof. Boohene was received by the Provost, Prof. Isaac K.A. Galyuon, who congratulated her on her elevation and appointment.

Amongst others, Prof. Galyuon enumerated challenges confronting the College. Paramount was the delay by contractors to complete projects initiated.

For her part, Prof. Boohene called for support from the Provost and staff of the College to aid her work for the holistic advancement of the University.

The College Registrar, Mr. Isaac Elliot Nyieku, presented a piece of CoDE welfare cloth to Prof. Boohene, who thanked the College for the kind gesture.

UNFLICHING SUPPORT

At the Directorate of Academic Affairs, the Director, Mr. Gideon Enoch Abbeyquaye Esq. promised his unflinching and unalloyed support to the Pro Vice-Chancellor, towards collectively working to realise the vision of the University.

Responding, Prof. Boohene expressed gratitude to the Director of Academic Affairs and described the Directorate as a key stakeholder in the University. She stressed management of the University’s commitment to addressing the challenges the various Directorates and sections of the University are faced with.

SAM JONAH LIBRARY

The University Librarian, Dr. Mac- Anthony Cobblah, has congratulated the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rosemond Boohene, on her appointment.

He said there had been massive renovations in the Library geared towards sustaining the interest of students in research, reading and learning in the University to meet the vision of the University of Cape Coast.

Dr. Anthony Cobblah, together with some senior members of the Library led Prof Boohene to tour the newly-inaugurated Knowledge Commons and Scholarly Communication Unit as well as other renovated units for her to understand, at first hand, the operations of the Library.

Prof. Boohene, who was impressed by the level of developments in the Library, encouraged the Librarian to maintain the very high standards set for the emulation of others.

 

Dr. Anthony Cobblah on behalf of the Library presented a variety of books to Prof Boohene and the Director of Public Affairs, Major (Rtd) Kofi Baah-Bentum, who accompanied her on the visits.
