UCC Pro Vice-Chancellor Visits Kokoadu Apewosika and Amamoma Chiefs

The Pro Vice-Chancellor of University of Cape Coast, Prof. Mrs. Rosemond Boohene, has paid courtesy visits to the chiefs of Kokoadu Apewosika and Amamoma at their palaces.

Kokoado Apewosika and Amamoma are two of the communities surrounding the University.

The aim of the visit was to introduce herself to the chiefs as the Pro Vice-Chancellor and confer with them on how the University could assist their communities.

At the Palace of Kokoadu Apewosika, the chief, Nana Kweku Ennu thanked Prof. Boohene for the homage and said the community would support the University management to achieve its vision.

Nana Kweku Ennu, who was excited, prayed fervently for God’s blessing for the Pro Vice-Chancellor and wished her a successful tenure.

For her part, Prof. Boohene thanked Nana Ennu for the warm reception and invited him to the upcoming grand durbar of the UCC at 60 anniversary.

After welcoming the UCC delegation to his palace, the Chief of Amamoma, Nana Yartel III, expressed disquiet at the rising rate of teenage pregnancy in his

community and appealed to the University management to put up a model school in Amamoma to enable young girls take advantage of education.

He used the occasion to brief the Pro Vice-Chancellor on the security situation facing students residing in his community and appealed passionately to authorities of the University to beef up security to protect the lives of students.

Speaking, Prof. Boohene told the Chief about the adoption of School Project by the College of Education Studies to build the capacities of schools in the Cape Coast Metropolis.

She indicated that plans were advanced to ensure adequate security for students residing in communities around the University

The UCC delegation was made up of the Senior Assistant Registrar at the Public Relations Section of the Directorate of Public Affairs, Felix Adu-Poku and the Secretary to the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Alfred Ghartey.
