Tutors of Nursing and Midwifery Training College with facilitators of the workshop

The Institutional Affiliation Office (IAO) has begun series of workshops to build the capacities of tutors in Nursing and Midwifery Training Colleges (NMTC) across the country offering Diploma in Midwifery for Post Nurse Assistant Clinicals and Nurse Assistant Preventive (NAC/NAP) students. 

The workshops which are being held in the various campuses of the Colleges are aimed at building the capacities of tutors in Assessment to improve their instructions in the classroom and helping students to learn.

A three-member delegation from the University of Kwazulu-Natal, (UKZN), South Africa, has paid courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah as part of their working visit to the University.

The delegation comprised Prof. Harold Ngalawa (Dean of Research), Dr. Evelyn Derera (Academic Leader) and Dr. Phocenah Nyatanga of the School of Accounting Economics and Finance.

Dietician Advises Ghanaians to Eat More Local Food to Stay Healthy

A dietician based in the United Kingdom, Mr. Douglas Twenefour, has advised Ghanaians to eat healthy more fruits, fish, vegetable, whole grains, beans and nuts to prevent themselves against cardiovascular diseases .

Mr. Twenefour said cardiovascular diseases could be prevented if people eat healthy local dishes that were hygienically prepared.

Mr. Twenefour gave the advice at a lecture organised by the Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics Public lecture on the topic “Prevention and Management of Cardiovascular Diseases: the role of Diet and Lifestyle”. 

The NationalVarietal Release and Registration Committee (NVRRC) of the Ministry of Agriculture has recommended five proposed varieties of cassava developed by the Department of Crop Science in collaboration with the Biotechnology and Nuclear Agricultural Research Institute (BNARI) of Ghana Atomic Energy Commission(GAEC).
 
The five recommended varieties are resistant to mosaic disease which mostly affects cassava production in Ghana and also contain  beta carotine - a precursor of Vitamin A.

The University of Cape Coast Chapter of Ghana Association of University Women (GAUW), of the Graduate Women International (GWI), has held a reading, creative writing and public speaking competition for some selected basic schools in the Cape Coast Metropolis.

The competition was aimed at promoting reading, creative writing and public speaking among girls at the basic education level.

The competition was aimed at promoting reading, creative writing and public speaking among girls at the basic education level.

The Directorate of Finance Welfare Association has climaxed its Silver Jubilee anniversary celebration with dinner.                       

Speaking at the function, the Chairman of the Association, Mr. Victorious Hagan Yamoah, thanked members for actively participating in activities of the one-week celebration. He expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and management of the University for rallying behind the Association to make its celebrations a success.
