The Counselling Centre, has organized a two-day Mental Health and Wellness Week programme for staff and students of the University Community under the theme: “Speak Up, Speak Out: Changing our Conversation on Mental Health.” 

Minister with UCC team

The General Conference of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), has approved the elevation of the Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (IEPA) to UNESCO Centre of Excellence Category II.

The approval was granted after a resolution by the UNESCO General Conference on Friday, 15th November, 2019 as part of meetings for the 40th Session in Paris, France.

A delegation from Ghana led by the Minister for Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, including a team from UCC is participating in the Conference.

A team from the University of Cape Coast led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah, has arrived in Paris to participate in the 40th Session of the General Conference of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

Other members of the UCC team are the Director of IEPA, Dr. Michael Amakyi, Prof. Yaw Ankomah, Dr. Marie Bakah, Dr. Alfred Ampah-Mensah, Dr. Wisdom Agbevanu, and Mrs. Alberta Owusu. The team is part of the Minister for Education’s delegation from Ghana to the Conference which is being held from 12th-27th November, 2019.

The Institute of Education (IOE), UCC, has held a Send-off Ceremony to honour the immediate past Director, Prof. Frederick Ocansey.


In her welcome address, the Director, IOE, Prof. Christine Adu-Yeboah, stated that the purpose of the ceremony was to celebrate and honour the former Director for his service to the Institute during his tenure. She commended him for his good leadership and the due diligence he exhibited towards his responsibilities at the Institute.
