A former Director of the Counselling Centre, Rev. Prof. J. K. Essumang, has underscored the need for first year students to make good use of their time in order to achieve their academic goals in the University. "At the University, you cannot afford to waste time. If you mean to achieve your academic goals of study (and) to pass your exams with good grades, you need to make good use of your time. This means that you'll need to learn how to manage your time, " he advised. Rev. Prof.

Adehye Hall, affectionately called Royals, has climaxed its 54th Hall Week with a colorful grand durbar. The week-long celebration was on the theme " Women in Enterprise Development: The Role of Tertiary Education." Speaking at the grand durbar, a banker and a retired army officer, Nana Kwesi Amoako, advised students to be creative and innovative in creating jobs for themselves so as to reduce unemployment in the country.

The School of Physical Sciences under the College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences (CANS) has held its third seminar for the semester. The third seminar, held at the Faculty of Arts Conference Room, was on the theme " Reiterated Homogenisation Applied in Hydrodynamic Lubrication." Speaking at the seminar, a lecturer at the Department of Mathematics, Prof. Emmanuel K.

The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) Local Chapter of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has organized a five-hour clean-up exercise on campus. The exercise, which was undertaken in collaboration with the UCC Central Cadet Corps, Department of Environmental Science and the Environmental Health Section, was aimed at sensitizing members of the University community on the need to keep the environment clean.

The Deputy Fund Manager of Skills Development Fund (SDF), Mr. Dunwell Eku, has said recent studies show that Ghanaian industries were performing poorly on the world market in terms of productivity and technology.

For example, he said, Ghana was not doing well regarding the cultivation and growing of tomatoes as compared to neighbouring Burkina Faso.

“Even growing of tomatoes, Ghana is not doing well in terms of yield per hectare between us and Burkina Faso,” Mr. Eku added.

The Centre for Coastal Management (CCM) under the School of Biological Sciences of the University of Cape Coast (UCC)  has launched an online database project called Fisheries and Coastal Management Database of Ghana (FishCoM Ghana) in Accra.

The primary goal of FishCoM Ghana, which is Supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is to offer an efficient and easy access to data (both published and unpublished) to aid the management of Ghana's fisheries and coastal resources.

The Distance Education Students' Association of Ghana (DESAG) of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has launched its 10th anniversary celebrations under the theme “10 years of Distance Education and its Impact on Socio- Economic Growth and Development of the country: A Transformational Force.”

Speaking at the Launch, the Head of Academics at the College of Distance Education (CODE), Prof. Paul Ahiatrogah, commended the leadership of DESAG for the initiative.

The Institute of Education (IOE) has organised a workshop for Principals, Vice-Principals and Assessment Officers of the Colleges of Education.

The two-day workshop, dubbed “Training of Trainers (ToT)”, was on the theme “Role of Principals, Vice- Principals and Assessment Officers in the assessment of students in the Colleges of Education”.

The University of Cape Coast has hosted and won the just ended 7th Mini Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) games with a total of 28 gold, 19 silver and 5 bronze medals.
