The maiden Farmer’s Market event kicked started the UCC`s World Food Day celebration. The World Food Day is an international day celebrated every year worldwide on 16th of October to commemorate the date of the founding of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in 1945. The day is celebrated widely by many other organizations concerned with hunger and food security, including the World Food Program, the World Health Organization and the International Fund for Agricultural Development.

University of Cape Coast celebrated the annual International Breast Cancer awareness month. As part of the awareness campaign a free breast cancer screening was organized for the staff of the University.  This was the ninth time the Breast Cancer screening was arranged on campus.

The Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences held a week-long outreach programme at Ampenyi M/A Basic School from 18th to 22nd October, 2021. The outreach programme dubbed “Environmental Education towards the Conservation of Biodiversity in the Brenu Lagoon, Ghana” was funded by the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO) under their 2021 Global Outreach Initiative.

The Student Representative Council in collaboration with the school of business held the second edition of Africa’s Biggest Idea Challenge themed “Growing Ghana Beyond Aid Through Enterprise Development: Student Entrepreneurship in Focus.” 100 contestants who pitched their business ideas were downlisted to 11 finalists. Through the program the students were inspired and helped to take their business idea to the next level.

 

The Confucius Institute of the University of Cape Coast (CIUCC) has held the 2021 Chinese Ambassador’s Scholarship Awards. The awards were presented to 117 students from the BA Chinese programme. (Level 100 and 200), University Primary School, Penuel International School, Westend International School, University Practice SHS, Westend University College, Takoradi Technical University and Cape Coast Technical University.

 

Six sub committees of UCC at 60 Celebrations have been inaugurated by Prof. Livingstone K. Sam-Amoah, chairman of the main Planning Committee for the 60th Anniversary Celebrations.

 

 

The Sub Committees are made up of all stakeholders of the University -UTAG, GAUA, SSA, TEWU, Alumni, GRASAG and SRC. The Sub-Committees are:

Prof. Ou Yamei, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute of the University of Cape Coast paid a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor. 

The Vice-Chancellor assured Prof. Ou Yamei that the University Management would support the Confucius institute in every way. 

Responding, Prof. Yamei promised to also work with the University to achieve for mutual benefit.
