The Registrar cutting the sod for the construction of the Lube Bay

A sod-cutting ceremony has been performed for the construction of a Lube-Bay for the Transport Section of the University. 


The construction is being funded by Vanguard Assurance Company Limited at a cost of GH¢ 63, 000 as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility to the University.

The Directorate of Legal Consular and General Services, in collaboration with Forensic Investigation for National Development (FIND Ghana), has held a three-day training workshop for security personnel of the University. 
    
The security personnel were trained on General Security, Emergency Medicine, Criminal Psychology, Substance Abuse, Crime Scene Management, and Bioterrorism.

Researchers of the LUCSUS Project

The Director of the Directorate of Research Innovation and Consultancy, Prof. Frederick Ato Armah, and the Lund University Centre for Sustainability Studies (LUCSUS), Sweden have been jointly awarded SEK 20 million (which is approximately 2 million Euros) for a new research project.
    

Performance by CEVEN Choir

The Department of Music and Dance in collaboration with the Directorate of Public Affairs (DPA) has organised a virtual musical concert to promote peace in the 2020 elections.

The programme dubbed “UCC: in Harmony for Peace” featured performance by the Central Vocal Ensemble (CEVEN) and poetry recital by Kwame Dampare. Cladded in traditional costume of the various tribes in Ghana, CEVEN gave a stunning rendition of patriotic songs to drum on the peace message.

Presentation at the Forum

The National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) in collaboration with the Department of Applied Economics has held a two-day forum to solicit contributions, perspectives and views of students on programmes and policies for Ghana’s Development Plan.

Representatives of political parties at the Town Hall Engagement

Political parties in the country have pledged to channel more resources towards revamping the fisheries and coastal sectors of the Ghanaian economy when voted into government in the 2020 elections.

This commitment was expressed during the maiden town hall engagement organised by UCC through the Centre for Coast Management  (CCM).

The political parties that participated in the dialogue session were the Convention People's Party (CPP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), New Patriotic Party (NPP) and People's National Convention (PNC).

The Vice Chancellor has on behalf of the University Council, appointed Dr. David Teye Doku as Deputy Director of the Directorate of Research Innovation and Consultancy (DRIC) of the University of Cape Coast effective 1 September 2020. He joins Dr. Mrs Dorcas Obiri-Yeboah who was recently appointed by the Vice Chancellor to a similar role at DRIC. 

Vice-Chancellor with the delegation from AIMS Ghana

Two officials from the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) Ghana have called on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong.
    
The two officials are the President of AIMS, Dr. Prince Koree Osei, and the Scientific Administration Manager, Ms. Rhoda Mahamah.
