Admission of Sandwich Students — College of Education Studies 2026/2027

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for admission into SANDWICH undergraduate (Bachelors), Diploma and Certificate programmes of the University of Cape Coast for the 2026 Sandwich Session. E-Vouchers for online application are on sale at the centres listed below the page.

College of Education Studies

B.Ed. (Science) — Faculty of Science and Technology Education

Admission Requirements:

  • Diploma in Basic Education (Science and Mathematics Option)
  • Diploma in Basic Education (Technical Science Option)
  • Higher National Diploma (HND) in any science related area from any accredited institution with a minimum CGPA of 2.5

Duration: Three Sandwich Semesters. First Semester: July – August, 2026.

Fees (Fresh Students): GH¢4,918.00

Diploma in Early Childhood Education — Faculty of Educational Foundations

Admission Requirements:

  • Post-SHS candidates with passes in 5 subjects — three core subjects (including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies) and two elective subjects with at least grade D; aggregate of 24 (SSCE) or 36 (WASSCE)
  • Teacher's Certificate 'A' or Certificate in Early Childhood Education from recognized institutions with GPA of 2.5 or better
  • Entry through examination: Applicants aged 25+ with SSCE/WASSCE/'O' Level and at least three credit passes, or Certificate in ECE with GPA between 1.5 and 2.4

Target Group: Untrained early childhood teachers, teachers in Basic Schools, staff of NGOs in child care, and staff of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.

Duration: Three long vacation periods of eight weeks each. First Semester: July – August, 2026.

B.Ed. Early Childhood Education (Degree) — Faculty of Educational Foundations

Admission Requirements:

  • Direct Entry: Diploma in Early Childhood Education from a recognized institution with CGPA of 2.5 or better
  • Entry through Examination: Diploma in Early Childhood Education with CGPA between 1.5 and 2.4

Target Group: Teachers in Basic Schools, staff of NGOs in child care, and staff of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.

Duration: Two long vacation periods of eight weeks each, plus a December–January session within one academic year. First Session: July – August, 2026.

Certificate in Disability Studies — Faculty of Educational Foundations

Target Group: Candidates working in environments that serve persons with special needs, and individuals wishing to upgrade knowledge and skills in disability studies.

Duration: Two Sandwich Semesters (one year). Mode of Delivery: Solely Online. First Semester: July – August, 2026.

College of Humanities and Legal Studies

Diploma in Transport and Road Safety Management — Dept. of Geography and Regional Planning

Admission Requirements:

  • Post SSCE/WASSCE: Three credit passes in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies, plus Geography and one of: Economics, Elective Mathematics/Statistics, Business Management, Government or History
  • Candidates with certificates in basic road safety, fleet management, or intermediate/advanced vocational/technical training

Target Group: Drivers in governmental and non-governmental institutions, transport unions (GPRTU, Kingdom Transport, MMTS, PROTOA), car rentals, and educational institutions.

Duration: Three long vacation semesters of eight weeks each. First Semester: July – August, 2026.

BSc Transport and Logistics Management — Dept. of Geography and Regional Planning

Admission Requirements:

  • Diploma in Transport & Road Safety Management from a recognized institution
  • HND in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution (minimum second class lower)
  • Minimum two (2) years' work experience in an automobile or related industry
  • Must pass a departmental interview selection process

Duration: Three long vacation semesters of eight weeks each. First Semester: July – August, 2026.

Diploma in Social Behaviour and Conflict Management — Dept. of Sociology and Anthropology

Admission Requirements: Any of the following:

  • Certificate in Social Behaviour and Conflict Management from UCC
  • SSCE/WASSCE: Six subjects (aggregate 24/36) — three core (English, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies) and three relevant electives
  • GCE 'A' Level passes in two subjects with 'O' Level credit passes in English and Mathematics
  • GCE 'O' Level passes in five subjects including English and Mathematics
  • Teacher's Certificate 'A' with 'O' Level credit passes in English and Mathematics

Target Group: Workers in protection agencies (Police Service, Prison Service, Customs, Fire Service, Immigration, NADMO), Social Workers, Ambulance Service, MMDAs, and Chieftaincy Institutions.

Duration: Three long vacation semesters of eight weeks each. First Semester: July – August, 2026.

BA Social Behaviour and Conflict Management — Dept. of Sociology and Anthropology

Admission Requirements:

  • Diploma in Social Behaviour and Conflict Management from UCC
  • Related diplomas (Labour Studies — UCC/CDS/GIMPA/UG; Social Work — UG Legon; Education — UCC/UG; or related discipline) with at least Second Class Lower
  • All applicants must pass a selection interview conducted by the Department

Target Group: Workers in protection agencies (Police Service, Prison Service, Customs, Fire Service, Immigration, NADMO), Social Workers, Ambulance Service, MMDAs, and Chieftaincy Institutions.

College of Health and Allied Sciences

Certificate/Access Course in Health Information — School of Allied Health Sciences

Admission Requirements:

  • Six-week and/or six-month certificate in Health Information from Kintampo or any recognized institution
  • Minimum D or C6 in English Language and Mathematics
  • Must pass an entrance examination (aptitude test and general paper) followed by an interview

Target Group: Health Information Officers, Medical Records Staff, Health Insurance Staff, National Ambulance Service Staff, Data Managers, Data Analysts, and other health-related professionals.

Duration: Degree programme — four long vacation periods over two years. Certificate/Access Course — two long vacation periods over one year. First Semester: June – August, 2026.

Fees: Fresh Students — GH¢4,700.00  |  Continuing Students — GH¢4,500.00

Lectures will be conducted both virtually and face-to-face.

BSc Nursing — School of Nursing

Admission Requirements:

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with a diploma from a recognized institution and minimum three (3) years' working experience
  • Active registration with the Nurses and Midwives Council (NMC)
  • Must pass a written test followed by a selection interview; health check and satisfactory references required if offered a place

Target Group: Professionals with a Diploma in Nursing currently working in the Health Services on a full-time or part-time basis.

Duration: Three sandwich semesters of eight weeks each, followed by inter-semester courses. First Semester: July – August, 2026.

BSc Mental Health Nursing — School of Nursing

Admission Requirements:

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with a Diploma from a recognized institution and minimum three (3) years' working experience

  • Must pass a written test followed by a selection interview

Duration: Three sandwich semesters of eight weeks each, followed by inter-semester courses. First Semester: July – August, 2026.

BSc Community Mental Health Nursing — School of Nursing

Admission Requirements:

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with a Diploma from a recognized Nursing Training College with minimum three (3) years' working experience
  • Active registration with the Nurses and Midwives Council (NMC)
  • Must pass a written test followed by a selection interview

Duration: Three sandwich semesters of eight weeks each, followed by inter-semester courses. First Semester: July – August, 2026.

Accommodation

The Sandwich Programmes are non-residential. Students outside Cape Coast are responsible for securing their own accommodation. However, accommodation options are available in the halls of residence for interested students.

Payment of Fees

Fees for all programmes should be paid into the UCC Sandwich Admissions Account (Account No. 3021130000995, University of Cape Coast Branch) at any networked branch of Ghana Commercial Bank.
