The Confucius Institute of the University of Cape Coast (CIUCC) in collaboration with the University of Cape Coast has organised a programme to celebrate ‘Confucius Institute Day and the Third Anniversary’ of its establishment in the University.

The programme which showcased the unique Chinese culture was under the theme: “Celebrating Ghana-China relationship through cultural performances.”

The College of Education Studies has held a workshop to sensitise lecturers on the National Teachers Standards (NTS) and the National Teacher Education Curriculum Framework (NTECF).

The UCC-Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Professorial Chair of Petroleum Management, Prof. Omowumi O. Iledare, has noted that Ghana can achieve its local content policy goals for oil and gas industry if they are built on realistic expectations with already existing industrial competence and capabilities.

“Every oil-producing country is conscious of local content. The local content policy must have a goal and measurable objectives aimed at strengthening the demand of goods and services directed to the domestic market thereby expanding the local economy,” he added.

The University of Cape Coast has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (Mou) with 16 Colleges of Education as part of reforms in teacher education in the country.     

The Department of Agricultural Engineering, UCC in collaboration with the Institute for Global Food Security, Queens University Belfast through the support from Agilent Foundation and MARS technologies has organised an international workshop on the topic: “Improving Rice Integrity and Managing Food,” as part of efforts geared towards sensitizing the public and monitoring food fraud and authenticity.

Management Committee of the University has held a four-day retreat to strategise for the 2019/2020 academic year at Senkyi Hotel, in the Eastern Region.      The essence of the retreat was to provide an avenue for members, especially the newly appointed provosts to understand fully the duties and responsibilities of their positions and the associated challenges as well as the solutions they can offer, to enable the teamwork together for effective management of the University. 

The University has graduated 790 students from the College of Health and Allied Sciences who successfully completed their programmes of study in the 2018/2019 academic year.
    
These graduates constitute the first session of the 52nd Congregation dedicated to the College of Health and Allied Sciences.
