VC in a chat with the Chiefs of Agona Nyakrom

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, has revealed that the UCC College of Distance of Education (CoDE) Conference and Resource Centre located at Agona Nyakrom in the Central Region which is 85 percent complete,  will be ready for use by August this year.

According to him, the Management of the University and all stakeholders will direct much effort into the project to ensure its completion within the stipulated time.

The West African Science Service Centre on Climate and Adapted Land Use  (WASCAL) has paid a courtecy call on University Management . The call formed part of WASCAL's efforts to strengthen the research infrastructure and capacity in West Africa.

A Delegation from the Harare Institute of Technology, made up of the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Quinton C. Kanhukamwe, Pro Vice-Chancellor Mr. Willard Gwarimbo and Director of Communication and International Relations Mr. Tinashe Mutema pays courtesy call on University Management to discuss possible future collaborations.

 

The Directorate of University Health Services (DUHS) of the University of Cape Coast performed creditably as the second best health facility in the central region, among several others that participated in the annual central regional peer review programme held on 19th October, 2021 at the premises of the Directorate.

The School of Medical Sciences has held their annual White Coat Ceremony for 116 Medical students at the SMS Auditorium. The White Coat Ceremony is a rite of passage for medical students, and was created by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation in 1993. During the ceremony, a white coat is placed on each student’s shoulders and the  Hippocratic Oath is recited, signifying their entrance into the medical profession.

 

The University of Cape Coast has launched the official logo for it’s 60th Anniversary Celebrations which will climax in October 2022. The final design of the logo was chosen through a competition. Mr. Asare Okae Anti, an Alumnus of the University of Cape Coast, donated an amount of Ghc6000 to the top 3 winners of the competition.

The University of Cape Coast Governing Council, at its Special Meeting held on Wednesday, 24th Novemebr, 2021, appointed Prof. (Mrs.) Rosemond Boohene as the new Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University to take office from 1st January, 2022.

She takes over from the incumbent Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dora F. Edu-Buandoh, whose term of office ends on 31st December, 2021.

The Curriculum Review Team met and interacted with the Provost, Deans, Directors and Heads of Department of the College of Humanities and Legal Studies. The workshop took place at the Elizabeth Adabbor conference room of the Institute of Education, University of Cape Coast.

The Centre for Gender Research, Advocacy and Documentation (CEGRAD) under the auspices of the Vice-Chancellor has held a launch of an Advisory Board. The primary function of the advisory board is to give strategic directions to the Centre.
