Tertiary Education at Doorstep of Students

The Provost of the College, Prof. Isaac Galyuon said the Centre would help a lot in the spreading of tertiary education in the country. “It will help to spread and bring education to the doorstep of the people’, he declared.

A staff at the Institute for Development Studies, Dr. Shaibu Bukari, has donated 10 reflective vests to the University Security Section.

Dr. Bukari, who pursued his Ph. D. at the University of Sussex, United Kingdom, said he has observed that most campus security officers have been operating without reflective vests which according to him was dangerous as they needed to be visible at night.

A newly completed sports facility comprising a gymnasium and a sports hall has been inaugurated at the University.

The facility which was constructed by Paa Badu Construction Limited took three years to be completed with a loan from Prudential Bank.

Facility First of its Kind

The Chairman of the Sports and Recreation Committee, Dr. Charles Domfeh in a remark described the facility as “dream come true” saying “it has taken a lot of strenuous efforts to get the project done”.

Country Awards Council Ghana has presented a Lifetime Award to the Vice-Chancellor Prof. D. D. Kuupole for his contributions to education.

The Vice-Chancellor is the 6th high profile personality to receive the Life Time Award from the Council.

The Directorate of University Health Services (DUHS) has been assessed by a team of health professionals from some health facilities in the Central Region.

The re-elected Chairman of the University of Cape Coast Chapter of the Federation of Universities Senior Staff Association of Ghana (FUSSAG), Mr. Daniel Arthur Egyir, has expressed the commitment of his administration to concentrate on promoting the welfare of members of the union. Mr. Egyir gave the assurance  at the Swearing-in and Hand Over Ceremony for the newly elected FUSSAG executives at  Auditorium 900, College of Education Lecture Theatre Complex.

The Office of the Dean of Students has organised a two-day orientation for Hall Masters/ Wardens, Senior Hall Tutors and Hall Tutors at the Conference Room of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) Hostel. The programme was aimed at creating a platform to discuss issues pertaining to management of halls of residence in the University.

The University of Cape Coast has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ministry of Health to mentor all Specialised Nursing Training Schools in the country.

Hitherto, the specialised training schools awarded Advanced Diploma certificates to the Ministry of Health Nurses who specialised in specific fields in the nursing profession. With the current arrangement, UCC will now award bachelor degree certificates to students of these specialised training schools.

Fifty-six (56) graduates of the School of Medical Sciences of the College of Health and Allied Sciences of the University of Cape Coast have been inducted as full-fledged medical doctors by the Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council, Dr. Eli Kwasi Atikpui.

 This took place during the 49th Congregation and 4th Oath Swearing and Induction Ceremony of the School of Medical Sciences.
